Bulk refractory material (unshaped refractory material): Unshaped refractory material is a refractory material which is composed of a reasonable grading of granular and powdery materials and a binder and is directly used without molding and firing. Generally, the granules constituting such a material are called aggregates, the pulverized materials are called admixtures, and the binders are called cements. These materials have no fixed shape and can be made into a slurry, a paste and a loose one, and are therefore commonly referred to as bulk refractories. Such a refractory material can be used to form a seamless overall structure and is therefore also referred to as a monolithic refractory material.
The basic composition of the amorphous refractory material is a granulated and powdered refractory material. It can be made of various materials according to its requirements. In order to combine these refractory materials into a whole, in addition to a few special cases, the appropriate variety and amount of binder are generally added. In order to improve the plasticity or reduce the amount of water, a small amount of suitable plasticizer can be added. To meet other special requirements, a small amount of other suitable additives can be added separately.
