Some tips for coolant nozzles
Ordinary coolant nozzles have a much greater impact on the grinding process than you might think.

The nozzle is used to continuously spray the coolant during the grinding process, control the temperature of the grinding zone, and keep the grinding wheel clean, and the grinding debris is washed from the grinding area into the filtration system.
Plastic modular nozzles work very well at low pressures (2 atmospheres), but positional deviations due to high pressures in better grinding conditions. These are easy to align with the cooling zone, but the nozzle position needs to be adjusted close to the workpiece grinding position.
Rigid metal pipes - such as copper, are harder, but they also carry air into the coolant while the stream is scattered, unless the end is pressed very accurately, or the nozzle's mouth is close to the end. Alignment or realignment of the grinding requires frequent bending and may eventually cause the metal tube to break.
Cluster jet nozzles are very effective
For more than 20 years, the authors have shown that this laser-like cluster jet nozzle is much more efficient than a plastic modular nozzle, especially when grinding most of the heat to the part, not the chip. When the grinding wheel speed reaches or exceeds 6000 SFPM (about 30 m/s), the boundary layer of air movement on the surface of the grinding wheel prevents the low-pressure coolant from making the surface of the grinding wheel moist. Higher impact energy, along with the cluster jet, and their ability to match the speed of the wheel, remove the boundary layer, clean the wheel, and allow the wheel to transfer coolant to the grinding area.
This dual high pressure slotted nozzle system has proven to be suitable for ANCA TX7 grinding machines. The round mouth is aligned with the angle of the grinding wheel, and the flat mouth is aligned with the outer diameter of the grinding wheel. The two outer grinding wheels are lubricated by a rotary nozzle on the ring manifold.
Cluster jet nozzles for medical and aerospace applications
A medical device manufacturer using the ANCA TX7 has been wearing the cluster jet nozzles, and the grinding wheel angle is rarely worn five times. The burrs and burns are eliminated from the tough stainless steel workpiece, which is avoided because the nozzle is far from the grinding wheel. Nozzle damage, jet alignment is easier, and productivity is increased by 40%.
In the grinding industry, a well-functioning and efficient cooling flow model is 1.5 to 2 GPM per spindle (5.5-7.5 L/min). For example, the 5HP shaft requires 7 to 10 GPM (26.5-38 L/min). Since nozzle apertures have been increasing for years to control grinding burns, only five of them can be operated from 10 machines that are produced intensively.
Each machine is equipped with 8 diameter 10 mm open tubes for cooling two grinding wheels on the same spindle. After removing the original nozzle and replacing it with five circular cluster jet nozzles with a diameter of 4.5 mm, the dressing interval was doubled, the surface quality was improved, the grinding power was reduced by 40%, the flow rate was reduced by 66%, and the burn problem was also No, 10 machines in the central system can be operated.
