Definition of Barbed Wire

Barbed wire, also called barb wire. It is a kind of steel fencing wire, which can add sharp edges to your fence, protect your property and your yard. Anyone, person or animal, try to cross the barbed wire will be injury by its sharp edges. It is simple to install and quick to erect, even an unskilled person can install it quickly.

Barbed wire was used for restraining cattle at the beginning, as barbed wire fences were cheaper and easier to erect than their alternatives. After wire fence was widely applied in the United State in the late 19th century, barbed wire also used in larger areas than before.

Barbed wire can be installed solely or with other kinds of fence, like chain link fence. Mostly when it is used for protecting the yard, it is installed on the top of chain link fence.
