Use technology to change coal into clean energy

China is a big coal country, but the feeling of coal brought to the people is "love and hate." On the one hand, the fact that coal has long dominated China's energy consumption structure makes it impossible to "abandoning coal for energy" in the short term. Realization; but on the other hand, when energy-saving and emission-reduction become increasingly common, the malady of coal pollution has caused many provinces to fall into a dilemma.

During the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan” period, the Chinese Academy of Sciences formed a series of independent intellectual property technologies in the field of coal-based clean fuels and chemical products, successfully solving the dilemma:

The Tseringshan Mine is a mine in the Shanxi Pan'an Group. Because of the high amount of * and the serious environmental pollution, the 12 billion tons of high-grade coal here has to be abandoned and the mine is also facing a closed situation. At the end of 2008, as a major science and technology demonstration project jointly initiated by China's 863 Program and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Luan Group produced the first barrel of cobalt-based catalytic coal-based synthetic oil in China, which resulted in the conversion of waste coal into high-grade coal, and the Tseringshan Mine With it back to life. Feng Yongfa, deputy general manager of Luan Group's coal-based synthetic oil company:

Feng Yongfa: “Transform coal into gas, and then remove some of the impurities in the gas, like carbon dioxide, hydrogen dioxide, and the remaining hydrogen and carbon monoxide to produce oil. In addition to some excess hydrogen for the device, and the gas purification process The carbon dioxide in the system, as well as the full high-purity nitrogen, is made of synthetic ammonia and urea, which effectively reduces carbon dioxide emissions."

At present, Shanxi Panan has formed a complete circular economy chain. It is not only coal that turns waste into treasure, but wastes such as coal gangue, coal slime, gas, hydrogen, and tail gas derived from the development of raw coal to production have been rationally utilized in this chain.

It is not only coal-to-oil, but also in the field of clean coal research in China, technologies such as coal-to-olefins and coal-to-ethylene glycol are particularly prominent.

Liu Zhongmin: “Because no one in the world has ever used coal to make olefins, after all, a device built with Chinese people as its core technology has been built. This may have the potential to drive an entire coal-to-olefins industry in China. His output value is now unexpected. There must be hundreds of billions of billions of dollars in total."

Liu Zhongmin, deputy director of Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, is the project leader of the coal-to-olefins technology. Alkenes are the basic raw materials for petrochemicals, and their downstream products are polyolefin plastic products with a wide range of uses. Most of the olefins were previously obtained from the petroleum route, but the coal-to-olefin technology developed by DAL has achieved a methanol conversion rate of nearly 100%, and successfully developed a non-oil feedstock route for the production of basic chemical raw materials. Liu Zhongmin said that the key to success in this research lies in the word “persistence”:

Liu Zhongmin: “The most difficult part of laboratory research is that there is a period when the price of oil is too low to find financial support. Once this matter is cut off, the people who do the research are scattered again and want to start again. I am afraid that the original foundation is not Many countries in foreign countries did not persist at all. The government and the Chinese Academy of Sciences gave us great support. We persisted."

Persist in exchange for results. Other areas of clean and efficient use of coal in China have also achieved remarkable results: Ash fusion gasification technology, circulating fluidized bed technology, almost every one has experienced decades of original innovation and technology research and development.

At present, the Chinese Academy of Sciences is continuing to improve the industrial chain of clean and efficient use of coal, aiming at the large-scale and difficult-to-use low-rank coals in China. It will form a complete technological system for the comprehensive utilization of clean and efficient coal resources in the next decade, which will be the development of China's energy industry. Make a contribution to safety.
