Since the birth of China's first artificial diamond in 1963, China's superhard materials and products industry has gone through 40 years of development. In the past 40 years, the level of technology and quality of superhard materials and products in China has been continuously improved. The variety of products has been continuously increased and the scale of production has been continuously expanding. It has formed an inter-departmental, cross-industry, trans-regional, scientific research, design, production, and complete categories. A complete industrial system with a considerable scale has created a development path for a superhard material and product industry with Chinese characteristics. At present, China’s output of synthetic diamonds ranks first in the world, becoming the largest producer of superhard materials in the world, and it has achieved its due status in the world’s superhard material industry. According to incomplete statistics, during the four years from 1998 to 2001, the total output of the superhard materials and products industry in China increased from 400 million carats to 1.62 billion carats, of which the output of products increased from 0.5 billion carats to 290 million carats. Carat, an increase of nearly five times, the development speed is gratifying.

The new development of superhard materials is the driving force and purpose of material development and application, while superhard materials are the main raw materials of the products. Its development provides the basis for the development of the products. In recent years, major advances made in super-hard materials in terms of variety and quality include: diamonds in high-grade single crystals, with the large-scale development of diamond synthesizing equipment, powdery catalysts and powdered carbon material synthesis technologies have been widely promoted, With the development and application of composite pressure transmission media, the proportion of high-strength diamonds has increased year by year. A backbone enterprise has been able to mass produce high-grade products equivalent to BS950 and above, with the proportion of more than 20%, the proportion of medium-to-high-end products has reached 42%, and the economic benefits have increased by two-thirds.

In terms of new varieties, there is a diamond abrasive known as the CSD cultivar, that is, granule-structured diamond. This cultivar differs from traditional diamond single-crystal particles in that it is composed of many fine particles. In the grinding process, when the grinding force reaches a certain level, these small particles will produce a small crushing, so the self-sharpening is very good, the grinding is very sharp, the efficiency is high, the service life is longer, and the surface quality of the workpiece is better. CSD abrasives are most suitable for machining hard alloys, and can also be used for the processing of glass and ceramics; most suitable for resin bonded abrasives, and also for bronze and ceramic bonded abrasives. Cubic Boron Nitride (CBN) Abrasives With the development of technology, CBN abrasives have developed two varieties of amber crystals with better strength and toughness based on the past two black single-crystal varieties, plus Ni-plated varieties. Two varieties of micropowder were formed, forming a total of nine varieties, greatly expanding the range of CBN varieties and their applications. Plating products based on Ni, Cu, Ti products, the development of a variety of superhard materials coated corundum, its product characteristics are: hard brittle corundum (or silicon carbide) as a coating, and the coating was "thorn shape". This product is used in resin bond superabrasives, which not only has the advantages of Ni-plated and Cu-abrasives, but also overcomes the disadvantages of high coating cost and bluntness of the tool. The processing efficiency is increased by 30% to 35%, and the service life is improved by 20 %. The future development trend of the 21st century will be the era of knowledge economy. The integration of knowledge and economy and the integration of the global economy have brought us opportunities, but more are challenges and urgency. (1) With the continuous improvement of raw material preparation, new binders, special production equipment, testing instruments and other technologies, the manufacturing technology level of superhard material products will be greatly improved, and new varieties will continue to emerge with high speed and high thickness. Features such as thin, ultra-thin, and complex profiles will continue to develop toward higher levels, and product quality will increase significantly.

(2) Superhard material products will develop in the direction of serialization, standardization and specialization. Each production enterprise will form its own product characteristics.

(3) The application technology of superhard material products, including CNC machine tools, dressing technology, and special grinding fluids, will be developed and improved.

(4) The application fields of superhard material products will be expanded to a large scale, and will be applied more in the automotive, computer, microelectronics, optoelectronics, communications, home appliances, new ceramics and other industrial fields, and CBN products will be even larger. Popularization and development.

(5) With the shift of the world's manufacturing center to mainland China, China's superhard material products will develop rapidly in the next 10 years. Not only will the output be among the highest in the world, but also the technological level will advance toward the world's most powerful countries.
