Scientists have proved that new nano-semiconductor materials like graphene exist

Graphene is a new type of nanomaterial that is currently found to be the thinnest, most intense, and most conductive and thermally conductive. It is known as the “king of new materials”. It is stripped out of graphite materials and consists of carbon atoms. There is only one layer of atom-thick two-dimensional crystals. The University of Kentucky has now theoretically verified the existence of a two-dimensional crystal with an atomic layer thickness. It is composed of three atoms: silicon, boron, and nitrogen. It is similar to graphene in a hexagonal arrangement. Monolayered two-dimensional crystals, scientists from the theoretical model speculate that this material is also thin, strong toughness, and this material due to silicon atoms, can be prepared into semiconductor materials widely used in consumer electronics products.

Theoretically, the material will be very stable, and scientists have verified through computer models that even at 1000°C, the material structure is still very stable. If the material is successfully prepared in the real world, the elements needed for this material are widespread in the natural world, and do not need to be made into a neat shape like graphene, and can be processed into more flexible shapes.

In addition, due to the presence of silicon atoms in the material, electrical performance is also well compatible with current silicon-based electronics without radical changes to the current application of the electrical material infrastructure. The technology industry can gradually change to better materials. Currently, this new material exists only in theoretical models. Researchers at the University of Kentucky are working with the University of Louisville to achieve the preparation of this material in the laboratory. Current research papers have been published in academic journal Physical Review B, Rapid Communication.
