1) Daily Maintenance
Keep your furniture looking its best by regularly wiping the painted surface with a soft, clean cloth. Avoid exposing it to acidic or alkaline substances, as well as oils, which can damage the finish over time.
2) Burn Marks
If cigarette burns or unfinished matches leave scorch marks on your furniture, gently rub the area with a fine-grained cloth or a toothpick. Once the mark is softened, apply a thin layer of wax to help fade the burn. Always test on a small area first to avoid discoloration.
3) Heat Marks
Hot objects like cups or pans can leave white marks on wooden surfaces. To remove them, try wiping with a cloth dampened in alcohol, toilet water, kerosene, or even tea. If the mark remains, consider repainting the affected area for a seamless look.
4) Scratches
Minor scratches that don’t penetrate the wood can be covered using crayons or pigments that match the furniture’s color. After covering the scratch, apply a thin coat of clear nail polish to protect the area and restore its appearance.
5) Water Stains
For water stains, place a damp cloth over the mark and press it gently with a warm iron. This method often helps lift the stain and restore the original finish. Make sure the cloth is not too wet to avoid further damage.
Cleaning Tips
When cleaning outdoor furniture, always check that your cloth is clean before use. After dusting or wiping, turn the cloth over or replace it with a fresh one. Reusing the same side can cause dirt to be re-deposited on the surface, potentially scratching the finish.
Choosing the Right Care Products
To keep your outdoor furniture looking new, consider using specialized care products such as spray waxes or multi-purpose cleaners. These are designed for different materials like wood, plastic, glass, or melamine. Some products offer both cleaning and protection in one step, making maintenance more efficient.
Before applying any wax or cleaner, shake the product well. Hold the spray can at a 45-degree angle and spray onto a dry cloth from about 15 cm away. This ensures even distribution and avoids overspray. After use, remember to wash and dry the cloth thoroughly for future use.
