In 1946, Raytheon Company filed a patent application for using microwaves to cook food, and they were granted the first microwave oven patent in 1947. This early model, known as the "radarange" due to its origins in radar technology, was the world's first domestic microwave oven. It featured a turntable inside and had a simple white panel design, making it a revolutionary kitchen appliance at the time.
China introduced its first microwave oven in 1982, produced in Nanjing. This early model operated mechanically and laid the foundation for future advancements. In 1992, the Galanz brand launched its first microwave oven, which would later become a household name in China. By 2000, the country introduced its first network-connected microwave oven, showcasing the integration of smart technology into everyday appliances.
The development of induction cookers followed a different path. Germany’s NEEF company pioneered the concept in 1957, and the United States began developing induction cookers in 1972. By the early 1980s, these appliances became popular in Western countries. China started producing induction cookers in the 1980s, and over the next three decades, the industry grew rapidly. By 2005, China’s production reached 14.5 million units, and the market continued to expand in 2006. However, the industry faced challenges, with many companies struggling to sell their products. By 2007, only 20% of businesses survived, while others were forced to exit the market. Despite this, the demand for induction cookers remained strong, and by 2008, sales of small household appliances, including induction cookers, saw a significant rise.
