The first commercial microwave oven was introduced in that same year, and it was initially called the "radarange" because it was inspired by radar technology. Later, it was renamed the "microwave oven."
China's first microwave oven was a mechanical model with a simple white panel and an internal turntable. It marked the beginning of microwave use in Chinese households. In 1982, the first domestic microwave oven was produced in Nanjing, China. A few years later, in September 1992, the well-known brand Galanz launched its first microwave oven, helping to popularize the appliance across the country.
In January 2000, China introduced its first network-enabled microwave oven, showcasing the integration of smart technology into household appliances. Over the years, microwave ovens have evolved significantly, offering more features and convenience for users.
The development of induction cookers followed a different path. In 1957, Germany's NEEF company began experimenting with this technology, and in 1972, the United States started developing induction cookers. By the early 1980s, induction cooking had gained popularity in Western countries. China entered the market in the 1980s and saw rapid growth over the next three decades.
In 2005, the Chinese induction cooker industry experienced significant growth, producing 14.5 million units. The following year, the industry continued to expand, and induction cookers became one of the most popular kitchen appliances. However, the market faced challenges in 2006 when many companies struggled due to oversupply. By October 2006, only 20% of the companies remained, while others were forced to exit the market.
Despite these difficulties, the induction cooker sector rebounded and continued to grow. By 2008, sales of small household appliances, including induction cookers, showed a noticeable increase in the first three quarters of the year, signaling a renewed interest in this technology.
