Proper Care and Maintenance of Silk Fabric Curtains:
Silk fabric curtains require gentle handling to maintain their beauty and longevity. When washing, always use a mild, neutral detergent and avoid twisting the fabric after washing. Let the curtains air dry by hanging them in a well-ventilated area, allowing them to drip dry naturally.
Be cautious about fire hazards. In winter, when using stoves or heaters, keep silk curtains away from direct heat sources to prevent damage or melting.
If ironing is necessary, turn the curtains inside out and use a low heat setting—ideally around 150°C. Never press with a damp cloth, as this can cause water stains or weaken the fabric.
Avoid storing silk curtains with mothballs, as they can make the fabric brittle over time. Instead, use natural moth repellents like cedar blocks or lavender sachets.
If your silk curtains become wrinkled, try soaking them in clean water at 30°C for 20 minutes. Add a small amount of white vinegar to the water to help soften the fabric. Gently lift the curtains without twisting, then hang them in a cool, ventilated area. While still slightly damp, smooth out the wrinkles by hand. Once partially dry, you can use a low-heat iron if needed, but avoid pressing directly on the fabric.
