On November 23, at more than 4 pm, a horror scene appeared next to a green belt along Hongguang Road, Longhua Road, Shenzhen. A sanitation worker stumbled down the sewer, nearby neighborhoods called the police, and rescuers arrived at the scene to rescue . But after arduous rescue, the workers who fell into the well were rescued and no longer had vital signs. According to nearby neighborhoods, the sanitation worker accidentally fell into the well when he planted green vegetation near the green belt. It is another "swallowing trap" and the manhole cover is also known as the "city black hole".

"Swallowing traps" incidents happen all over the country

At about 12 noon on November 9th, a boy under 10 years old and his cousin walked on the road across Wuhan Media College, Optics Valley Avenue, Wuhan City, one after another. At a distance of less than 20 meters from the child, when he heard the child yell suddenly, he immediately ran over and found that his nephew fell into the well, and that well had no cover at all, only covered with a green net. Due to the sudden incident, he quickly notified the child's parents to come. At this time, the child's father, Zhang Fei, was selling hot dry noodles on the snack street opposite Wuhan Media College. After learning that the child had fallen into the well, he immediately found a rope to tie himself down into the well and wanted to save the child. Zhang Fei said that after going down at that time, he found that the water was flowing rapidly and his son had been washed away. He had to climb up to make a rescue call. Subsequently, relevant departments such as Wuhan Fire and Public Security arrived at the scene. Rescue workers rummaged through several nearby manhole covers, looking down, but found no trace of the child.

Finally, according to information provided by a man nearby: the well near the sewage treatment plant is relatively narrow, and the child may be stuck there after being washed over. According to this clue, rescuers rescued the child from the sewer near the sewage treatment plant at about 5:30 in the afternoon. At this time, he had no signs of life. Subsequently, the child was taken to the morgue of the East Hospital of the People's Hospital of Wuhan University nearby.

It is really distressing to encounter such incidents. The pregnancy and childbearing in October, and the raising of children for several years, the feelings and hard work of the parents are unimaginable.

In recent years, there have been too many cases of sewer well killers eating people. In August 2019, in Zunyi, Guizhou, a 3-year-old boy stepped on a broken manhole cover on the road. The manhole cover split instantly and the child fell into the manhole. There are no guardrails or warning signs around the damaged manhole cover. Fortunately, the child was saved in time, except for a few bruises, which was not a big deal; on July 19, 2019, in Heze, Shandong, a three-year-old child accidentally fell into a mouth about 4 meters deep and about 30 centimeters in diameter In an abandoned well. Rescuers used an excavator to dig a tunnel next to the well and rescued the child; in July 2019, in Wanglou Village, Peixian County, Xuzhou, Jiangsu, a 2-year-old boy accidentally fell into a dry well over 8 meters deep. Rescue workers transferred an excavator on site to excavate the mud around the wellhead. After more than four hours of rescue, the children who fell into the well were successfully rescued by the firemen. Since 2015, there have been 29 media reports of accidental fall into the well, 80% of the victims are children, and nearly 40% of their lives have disappeared from the world.

Various water wells, dry wells, and manholes have "swallowed" the lives of dozens of children! Regarding "wells", parents must alert their children to these dangers!

1. Stay away, stay away, stay away

The children were full of curiosity about the "well" and lacked safety awareness and did not know the dangers. There are many uncovered wells and dry wells in fields and roads in rural areas and suburbs. Once these dangers are discovered, the first thing parents need to do is to keep their children away. Faced with the manhole cover on the city street, "When you encounter the manhole cover and go around the road," every parent must keep their children in mind!

2. Teach children to know these "wells"

Water well, drainage well, rain well

Features: Round and square, with the words "sewage", "drainage", "rain" and so on.

Risk index: five stars

Comments: Sewage wells and drainage wells on the highway are connected, and falling into them may be life-threatening. Most of the sewage wells on the sidewalks and community pavements are sewage wells. Most of them fall into the vulnerable people due to the backflow of dirty water due to blockage.

Cable well, power supply well

Features: round and square, well cover marked with "power supply" or "electricity", two to three covers.

Risk index: four stars

Comments: The well room has a smooth cement inner wall and a large number of cables. Once it falls, it is easy to be injured and the well is not deep.

Communication well

Features: The manhole cover is marked with the name or logo of the communication company, and the manhole cover is mostly a composite material.

Risk Index: Three stars

Comments: Mostly located on the sidewalk, with smooth inner walls, and the communication equipment and optical fiber in the well are not deep.

Water supply well

Features: The words "water supply" or "tap water" are marked on the manhole cover.

Risk index: two stars

Comments: There is a water supply pipe in the well, there is a certain distance from the ground, the cover is not easy to open.

Gas well

Features: The words "gas" or "natural gas" are marked on the manhole cover.

Risk index: one star

Comments: Mostly located on the road. The well is filled with gas pipelines and equipment. The well is deep and requires professional tools to open it.

3. Eliminate these dangers in time

If a danger is found, make a sign in time, first tell the child not to be close, then enclose or mark it in time. If a dangerous manhole cover is found, report it in time. According to the introduction of the relevant staff, installing a protective net to the manhole is a good way to prevent passersby from falling into the well. With a sound mechanism for manhole cover defect detection, apart from regular inspections and repairs by relevant departments, each of our pedestrians is also a powerful "supervisory inspector".

4. Set up safety awareness

Stick path detection method: For whether there is a puddle, it can generally be tested with a stick.

Observation of the water surface method: When the road surface is found to have vortices and sudden springs, it should be detoured far away.

Light judgment method: If there is a moon at night, walk towards the moonlight, and if there is a light on the road, it is a puddle; when walking on the back of the moon, there is a dark spot on the road, it is a puddle.

Multiplayer pull method: When walking through stagnant water, pay attention to many people walking hand in hand in a row.

Walking with guardrails: If the vehicle is near the guardrails, close to the guardrails before getting on the bus. Do n’t fall off the manhole cover because you are anxious to get on the bus.

Careful observation method: Observe if there are any special signs on the road, maybe a well-meaning person reminds people passing by if they find danger.

5. Don't play with fireworks and firecrackers around the manhole cover

Many people threw firecrackers into the manhole cover when they were young. If you lose the ordinary sewer, it usually sounds loud and frightening. But if there is a septic tank under the manhole cover! Will be very dangerous.

Real case: On February 22, 2014, two boys in Shenzhen set off firecrackers to detonate the septic tank biogas. The manhole cover was washed into the air about 5 meters high and fell to the ground. The blast caused by the explosion threw the boy named Zhu After falling about one meter high in the air, another 9-year-old boy fell into the septic tank and died; on January 8, 2015, a 9-year-old boy in Hohhot threw firecrackers into the manhole cover of the sewer, causing a gas explosion. Suddenly lifted by the air wave more than 10 meters high, tumbled in the air, and fell heavily on the ground, causing serious injuries; on February 26, 2015, three children in Yunnan set off firecrackers, and one person put the firecrackers under the manhole cover, and then nearby Two manhole covers were blown up, and one of the girls was overturned into a septic tank by the airflow and unfortunately died.

In many cases, it is nothing else that pushes the child step by step to death. It is precisely the parent ’s negligence of the potential danger, lack of safety awareness, and missed the opportunity to actively avoid the risk.

Regarding the "well", I sincerely hope that everyone can take it seriously, do not ignore any danger, teach the children's safety awareness from an early age, and hope that the inspection of abandoned wells can be implemented as soon as possible, and no more angels will fall.
