Inlaid with 11,000 diamonds imitation of the Russian Empire crown

From February 6th to 10th, 2013, the St. Petersburg International Jewelry Fair took place at the Leningrad Exhibition Center. This year’s event was particularly significant as it celebrated two major historical milestones: the 250th anniversary of Empress Catherine II's ascension to the Russian throne and the 400th anniversary of the Romanov dynasty's founding. As a result, a replica of the famous crown worn by Catherine II became the star attraction of the exhibition. The replica was crafted based on the original design of Catherine II’s crown but with a modern twist. Instead of silver, the crown was made from platinum, giving it a more luxurious and contemporary feel. The number of diamonds used in the piece was also significantly increased—from 4,936 to 11,000—showcasing the craftsmanship and dedication of the 60 jewelers who worked on the project over the course of two months. This historic crown was not just a symbol of power and prestige; it was also a key part of Russian imperial tradition. From Catherine II to the last Russian emperor, Nicholas II, this crown was used during coronation ceremonies, representing the legacy and grandeur of the Russian Empire. The exhibition offered visitors a rare glimpse into the past, blending history with artistry in a truly unforgettable way.
