Office feng shui taboo

First, the door is the main entrance and exit of the office, often seen as the "mouth" of the space. If your desk is positioned in a way that you face away from the door, it can create a sense of vulnerability or lack of control. This may lead to long-term psychological tension, as you might constantly feel someone is watching you, causing confusion and poor decision-making. To improve this, try adjusting your desk so you’re facing the door directly. If that’s not possible, choose a chair with a high backrest to provide a sense of support and protection against the energy coming from behind.

Second, your desk should be positioned in a way that allows for an open view in front of you. An open front symbolizes a clear path forward and future opportunities. Avoid having pillars or obstacles directly in front of you, as they can create mental blockages and hinder your ability to think clearly. Also, make sure there are no heavy objects or structures above your head, as this can cause restlessness. Facing a wall directly may limit your vision and create a feeling of being blocked. Ideally, your desk should be placed away from the entrance, allowing you to have a clear view of who enters the room. Additionally, avoid placing your desk along a walkway, as constant movement can be distracting and disruptive.

Third, the office should be well-lit and bright. A space filled with natural light promotes clarity, positivity, and productivity. When employees feel comfortable and inspired, they tend to work harder and take more responsibility. On the contrary, a dark or dimly lit office can lead to stagnation, resistance, and low morale. It may also encourage negative behavior and create a sense of unease among staff.

Fourth, the office should be spacious and open. The area directly in front of your desk—often referred to as the "Mingtang" in traditional feng shui—is considered a key indicator of the future success of the unit or business. If this area is cluttered or closed off, it may symbolize limited growth and challenges ahead. However, if the space in front of your desk is open and peaceful, it suggests a bright and successful future for the company. A well-arranged workspace with good flow can greatly enhance both personal and organizational performance.
