China's machine tool numerical control rate needs to be further improved

Abstract Currently, the majority of machine tools in China are conventional ones. With a large number of these tools in use, safety concerns have become increasingly prominent. As a result, security issues have emerged as a major challenge for their development. Enhancing the safety performance of machine tools, improving their intrinsic safety level, addressing the low degree of numerical control, reducing the frequency of worker injuries, and boosting overall safety and production efficiency have become critical priorities.

After undergoing CNC retrofitting, conventional machine tools can significantly improve processing efficiency, automation, and intelligence. This reduces the likelihood of operators coming into contact with hazardous areas. The operating system and user interface become more ergonomic, which helps reduce human error and minimize accidents caused by mistakes. Following the retrofit, the safety performance of the machine tools improves considerably, and the accident rate drops dramatically, offering substantial safety benefits.

Reduce Machine Tool Costs and Increase Machining Efficiency

Compared to purchasing new machine tools, retrofitting existing conventional ones is especially cost-effective for large or specialized equipment. Typically, the cost of retrofitting a large machine tool is only about one-third of that of buying a new one. In addition to saving money, this process also helps reduce energy consumption and environmental pollution associated with full-scale replacements.

Based on past transformation experiences, after retrofitting, the efficiency of ordinary machine tools increases significantly. Previously, one operator was needed per machine, but now a single worker can manage two machines simultaneously. Additionally, machining accuracy improves, and the scrap rate due to human error decreases substantially. This reduces the physical workload on workers, saves labor costs, shortens the trial and production cycles for new products, and brings significant economic benefits to enterprises.

Drawing from the mature experience of foreign countries, remanufacturing is considered the most effective method for reusing CNC machine tools. The retrofitting of these tools represents a combination of technological innovation, industrial upgrading, and the development of emerging sectors. It emphasizes key improvements while promoting comprehensive progress, with a strong focus on enhancing workplace safety. In China, the remanufacturing industry is still in its early stages, yet it presents a massive market opportunity.

Boron Nitride Ceramic

Boron nitride ceramics have good heat resistance, thermal stability, thermal conductivity, high temperature dielectric strength, and are ideal heat dissipation materials and high temperature insulation materials. Boron nitride has good chemical stability and is resistant to most of the molten metal. It also has good self-lubricating properties. Boron nitride products have low hardness and can be machined with an accuracy of 1/100 mm. Boron nitride can be used in the manufacture of high-temperature containers for metallurgical melting, semiconductor heat-dissipating insulation parts, high-temperature bearings, thermowells, and glass forming dies.
