Focusing on the theme of “Science and Technology Innovation and Better Life,†the Yunnan Astronomy Enthusiasts Association participated in the opening ceremony of the National Science Week in Yunnan Province on May 19th. As a member of the association, our company, Kunming Yulong Optoelectronics, also actively joined this event. The activity took place at the Yunnan Provincial Science and Technology Museum, located next to Cuihu Lake, starting at 10:30 AM on the same day.
Several interactive science exhibits were set up for visitors, including the Mobile Tianxiang Hall, Sundial Mirror, Herschel Prism, and Bard Membrane. The event featured large-scale public science activities, covering topics such as earthquake prevention, identification of wild bacteria, proper use of astronomical telescopes, and the application of photovoltaic water collection in dry regions. The content was both educational and entertaining, drawing many local citizens to experience hands-on science and explore the wonders of technology.
The event was filled with excitement and curiosity. Visitors had the chance to observe the sun using the Sundial Mirror and view sunspots through the Bard Membrane. These experiences provided a unique opportunity for people to engage with astronomy in an accessible and fun way.
In previous months, the association's stargazing nights focused on the moon, Saturn, and Jupiter. This time, the public could see the sun, sunspots, and learn about solar observation techniques. Each event brings new celestial wonders to the public, deepening their understanding of the universe.
We hope that more science popularization events will be held in the future. Such activities not only enhance the public's scientific literacy but also contribute to the development of science education in society.
