Yunnan Province and Kunming City Science and Technology Week

Focusing on the theme of “Science and Technology Innovation and Better Life,†the Yunnan Astronomy Enthusiasts Association participated in the opening ceremony of the National Science Week in Yunnan Province on May 19th. Our company, Kunming Yulong Optoelectronics, also joined as a member group, contributing to this exciting event. The event took place at the Yunnan Provincial Science and Technology Museum, located near Cuihu Lake, starting at 10:30 am that day.
Various interactive exhibits were set up for visitors, including the Mobile Planetarium, Sundial Mirror, Herschel Prism, and Bard Membrane. The event featured large-scale science activities in the plaza, covering topics from earthquake preparedness and disaster prevention to identifying wild bacteria. Visitors also learned how to use astronomical telescopes and explored the application of photovoltaic water collection in dry regions. The activities were both educational and entertaining, drawing many citizens who came to experience the wonders of science and technology.

Last month’s stargazing nights focused on the moon, Saturn, and Jupiter, while this time, the public had the chance to see the sun, sunspots, and learn about the sundial mirror. Each event organized by the association brings new celestial wonders to the public. We hope there will be more such science popularization activities in the future, helping to improve national scientific literacy and promoting the development of science education.
