Progress in the development of flexible nanofiber solar cells

Recently, with the support of the Beijing Science and Technology Commission, the research team of Professor Zou Dechun of Peking University has improved the photoelectric conversion efficiency of fiber solar cells to 7.2% by further designing a new type of device structure to prepare a full-flexible fiber battery with a length of more than 30 cm. The root cell can drive propeller work under natural light.

In recent years, the third-generation solar cell technologies represented by dye-sensitized solar cells and organic solar cells have been greatly developed. However, due to the need for expensive transparent conductive electrode materials and insufficient battery efficiency, the practical application of emerging solar cells has been achieved. The process is also constrained to some extent.

Prof. Zou Dechun of Peking University proposed and implemented a flexible fiber solar cell without transparent electrodes. Through the constant optimization of the preparation process, a 35cm*35cm battery module was knitted; the research team prepared a flexible flexible fiber electrode and fiber cell unit. Double-sided fiber solar battery modules; combined with the unique three-dimensional lighting characteristics of fiber batteries, developed a new type of translucent condenser module.

In addition, through the implementation of the project, the research team also realized the automation of fiber solar cell electrode film preparation, and in device assembly and packaging, electrode integration, structural design and preparation of battery modules, key technologies for large-scale device preparation, and enhancement of devices. The basic research on efficiency and stability has been carried out, basically breaking through the problems of flexibility, large size, modularity, and packaging technology of fiber batteries, laying the foundation for subsequent small-scale application.
