Hot plate definition

Hot-rolled plates, often referred to as hot plates, are essentially steel plates and strips that undergo the hot-rolling process. During hot-rolling, the material is heated either during or prior to the rolling process, typically above the recrystallization temperature. Compared to their cold-rolled counterparts, hot-rolled products tend to be less precise in terms of dimensions and surface finish. Their thickness usually starts at around 3mm, with the thinnest hot-rolled sheets generally ranging from 1.5mm to 2.0mm. On the other hand, cold-rolled products are manufactured by further processing hot-rolled materials through cold-rolling. These cold-rolled sheets are known for their superior dimensional accuracy, excellent surface quality, and enhanced formability. The typical thickness range for cold-rolled sheets is below 5.0mm, with the most common range being between 0.05mm and 3.0mm. While there are exceptions that fall outside this range, they are relatively uncommon.
