Five categories of flooring encyclopedia wood

A class of materials:

Korean pine, cedar, yew, camphor, nanmu, red sandalwood, rosewood, hard Dalbergia, fragrant mahogany, boxwood, red and green wood, pecan, walnut, elm, hawthorn, fragrant cypress, water quillu, eucalyptus, and ironwood rosewood.

Example: Rosewood

Rosewood belongs to the mahogany family and is considered one of the top-grade woods. Known as fragrant mahogany, it shares similarities with traditional rosewood. The wood is dense, with a rich red or reddish color, fine texture, and soft grain. It's light enough to float in water, resembling wooden ribs. Today, most mahogany furniture on the market is actually made from rosewood.

Second category:

Yellow fir, Chinese fir, Fujian cypress, eucalyptus, tulip tree, pear, elm, Cyclobalanopsis, Mochi, alpine mulberry, jujube, yellow poplar, and ash.

Example: Chinese Fir

Fir flooring is an economical and eco-friendly choice, offering both affordability and aesthetic appeal.

Features and benefits of fir flooring:

1) Natural beauty: Fir flooring has a natural look with visible annual rings and textures that create a sense of being close to nature.

2) Non-staining and healthy: As a green product, it emits a pleasant wood aroma without harmful emissions, creating a fresh and safe environment.

3) Temperature regulation: Fir flooring can absorb and release moisture, helping maintain a comfortable indoor temperature—warm in winter and cool in summer.

4) Impact absorption: The soft texture of fir flooring reduces the impact on the body, making it safer for children and the elderly.

Third category:

Larch, spruce, pine, hemlock, ironwood, bauhinia, soft Dalbergia, eucalyptus, birch, chestnut, hibiscus, and maple.

Example: Birch

Birch flooring is a low-density wood, with a density around 0.6 grams per cubic centimeter. It feels light in hand but still has a clean and neat appearance, making it ideal for modern interior designs.

Fourth category:

Liquidambar, elm, hackberry, sandalwood, silver birch, red peony, white peony, sulfate, and paulownia.

Example: Salicin

Salicin is a fast-growing material suitable for flooring. Cork, another fast-growing option, matures in about 10–12 years. Its texture is harder than fir, but not strong enough to support heavy loads over time. It is often used for the outer surface of furniture rather than the core structure.

Fifth category:

Pseudo-alder, poplar, maple, light wood, Huangtong, holly, and Ukrainian persimmon.

Example: Poplar

Poplar is a diffuse-porous wood with a rough texture. The wood is typically white with brown streaks. The heartwood is light brown and usually straight-grained, with relatively small dimensions.

About substrates:

Sorghum substrate is commonly used in multi-layer solid wood flooring and also in high-end furniture.

Medium-density fiberboard (MDF) or high-density fiberboard (HDF), produced by Jiangsu Daya Group, is widely used in laminate flooring.

Other core materials include Liuzai and noisy core, which are also used in multi-layer solid wood flooring.

Additionally, these materials serve as cores in furniture such as moisture-proof boards or particle boards.
